Advanced training
is an opportunity to deepen your current work, and supervision as
you specialize and focus your studies and skills. You have the choice
of how deep and how long you would like your studies to be -- basically
to design your own program, within the requirements you will find
below.
If you are pursuing studies
that require course work outside of Three Winds, you will be required
to provide full documentation of courses and hours, in order to receive
credit for these studies.
Application
Please submit the following for consideration. As this is highly individualized
training, note that you will work with your teacher trainer to refine
topics, interests and areas of specialization.
1. Thesis proposal
-- basically, what is your overall "theme" for
studies, your area of specialization and focus.
2. Proposed paper
topics -- referring to the required essays in the courses
listed below. Try to keep the topics relevant to your area of specialization.
Be creative.
3. Submit a study
plan -- Tell me what courses you will do with me, what
courses you will do with other teachers/institutes, and by-when
you will do these things. Please include any private supervisions
you may feel you need with me. Please note/take into consideration
peer study groups (see #7 below).
4. Contact hours
-- Propose how we will count "contact hours" -- in other
words, if you are looking for recognition with Yoga Alliance, they
require a certain number of contact hours with the teacher supervisor.
We can count time spent in class with me, in courses with me, or
in supervision with me. We can also count time spent in other courses
with other teachers.

The Program Requirements
for all Advanced Teachers
The following are required studies and components for Advanced Yoga
Teacher Training.
1. Yogic Energetic
Anatomy and Energy Healing Practices (16 hrs)
After completion, this module is to be followed by either A or B.
A) personal case study
exploring the effects of the theory presented.
(follow your own experiences for 3 months
and then write about it in detail.)
B) 3 written case studies following Thai clients, yogatherapy
clients or private students for
1 month each in the application
of these principles
2. Yogatherapy
and Energetics
After completion, this module is to be followed by either A, B or
C.
A) personal case study
exploring the effects of the theory presented
(follow your own experience for
3 months, then submit written paper)
B) detailed written paper exploring the use of yogatherapy and
energetics in a class
setting, along with application
of the principles in your current classes with
observations/feedback from students
C) 3 case studies following yogatherapy clients/ private students
in the application of
these principles
3. Yogic History
Individual research into the history of yoga, with a written essay.
You will need to submit your topic for approval.
4. Research paper
exploring, in-depth, one limb / aspect of Yoga practice
The student-teacher is expected to conduct both theoretical and
practical research into the topic and present this topic to peers.
Please attempt to deepen and expand on your current knowledge. For
example, if you choose "meditation" you may want to attend
some courses in meditation (Zen, Buddhist or Vipasana) that you
have not done before.
5. Indian Cultural
Project for presentation to Energies of Healing practitioner
/ Yanumoja Yoga peer teachers
6. "Specialization"
research and study -- the student-teacher will be expected
to demonstrate, through yoga class/yogatherapy case studies, written
essay and presentation, an area of specialization in their work.
For example, a student-teacher may be interested in working with
a particular population (such as persons living with depression,
addictions, women in menopausal years, children, seniors, or cardiac
patients), or a related area of medicine (Ayurveda, Thai medicine
and massage), an aspect related to Yoga (history of yoga, yogatherapy,
chakras, pranic healing), or some integration of other material
(shamanic studies, energy healing, dance and yoga). The student-teacher
will be expected to elaborate on your related studies (courses you
have taken elsewhere or independent studies/research you are conducting)
as well as the ways in which this area of specialization has influenced
your teaching.
7. Peer study
groups -- students in the program will be expected to present
projects from 4, 5 and 6 above to their peers for peer-studies.
We will also have time during these sessions for problem-solving,
Q & A's, and peer-practicum/teaching. We will meet a total of
3 or 4 times as a group, for 1 day, depending on what the group
needs. That means that you will need to complete one of the above
projects (your choice of which ones) for each of the proposed weekends.
I will, though, need to see this reflected in your study plan.
8. Minimum of
200 hrs logged teaching time before graduation
