~ Traditional Thai Massage Teacher Training Program ~     800-hr

Students must apply for acceptance into this program. See program listings for more details. This program consists of the following modules and requirements:

- Research paper exploring and comparing an aspect of Thai medicine with either TCM or Ayurveda. This can be historical or practical in scope. Oral presentation to therapists-in-training.
- Thai cultural project for presentation to practitioner students during one of the intern-sessions.
- "Specialization" research and study - the student-teacher will be expected to demonstrate, through case studies, written essay and presentation (to therapists in training), an area of specialization in their work. For example, a student-teacher may be interested in working with a particular population (such as persons living with depression), or an area of Thai medicine (herbalism), or an aspect related to Thai massage (history of Thai massage, shamanism, yogatherapy). The student-teacher will be expected to elaborate on their related studies (courses they have taken, or independent studies/research) as well as the ways in which this area of specialization has influenced their work.
- Minimum of 500 hrs of logged client-time before graduation
- 200-hr Internship - Assisting will prepare the student-teacher in an actual class-room setting. Student-teachers will be expected to be able to set up a Theravada Buddhist altar, lead the morning ceremony along with graduation ceremonies, demonstrate and teach sequences of Thai massage, and be well-versed in any and all aspects of the curriculum.

Certification requirements

- Satisfactory completion of all written projects and presentations
- Demonstration of sufficient teaching skills and satisfactory completion of internship hours and tasks
- Completion of logged client hours
- Exam (written and practical) for certification as full teacher
